Youth visit food bank

Tuesday, February 7th the “Tweens” Class of the Episcopal Church School visited the local Food Bank at Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership. They presented Carla Mulkey with a check for $1400 to be used to buy food for the food bank

Spinning and Weaving

The ancient arts of spinning, weaving, and felt making are still being practiced in Salmon, Idaho. A group known as the Fiber Guild meets one Saturday a month to work on individual projects. You may have seen them last summer at the Farmer’s Market or Heritage days at the Sacajawea Center.

Public invited to tour aging schools

On Wednesday, February 8 and Wednesday, 15 from 4:30-6:30 tours of the Salmon Middle and Elementary Schools are available to the public. Lisa Corn, chairperson of the Salmon School Bond Citizens Committee, said previous tours have helped interested citizens see that many of the items that are failing in the 75-year-old Middle School and the 50-year-old Pioneer Elementary School are beyond repair or patching.

Idaho mine understates impact on fish deformities

Selenium contamination from a phosphate mine in southeastern Idaho is linked to fish deformities such as two-headed trout, and the problem would worsen if discharge limits were eased, a new government report found.
