Youth visit food bank

Tuesday, February 7th the “Tweens” Class of the Episcopal Church School visited the local Food Bank at Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership.  They presented Carla Mulkey with a check for $1400 to be used to buy food for the food bank.  Members of the Episcopal Church sponsored a dinner for the community on January 29 in support of the youth and their mission project.   $1400 was raised by those attending that dinner.   At the Food Bank the youth also delivered three large boxes of canned food that was collected by the congregations of the Episcopal and Presbyterian Churches.

The group, along with Father Bob Perry of Church of the Redeemer, toured the Food Bank and learned of the needs in this community.  In January 254 families were assisted by the food bank.  The money donated will be used for items like cereal, pasta, macaroni and cheese, canned chili, and canned tuna which are in short supply.

The “Tweens” Class is for 5th through 8th grade youth and meets weekly after school on Tuesdays.  Members of the group are  Kelsey Stansberry, Brooke Painter, Hailey Cole, Katie Westfall, Avery Stansberry and Cody Muscarella. Leaders are Lois Blackadar and Luke Prange. Church School is open to children from preschool through 8th grades.  Any child interested in attending Church School is welcome to attend.  For more information please call Lois at 756-2094 or Bret at 756-4096.
