   Supportive Outreach Solutions is pleased to announce the addition of a new program director, Stephanie Taylor. 

   Stephanie has recently moved to Salmon from the Boise area where she graduated from college and started her family.  She married a former Salmon resident, Mike Taylor, who works for the local V.A. Clinic as an L.P.N.  They have two young boys 4 and 7. 

    Stephanie will have regular hours upstairs at the Salmon Middle School on Thursday afternoons to better accommodate volunteers, mentees and school personnel. Stephanie is passionate about helping children.  When asked why she wanted to be a part of the mentoring program she said, “I worked at an alternative school during college and saw the difference caring adults can make.  I can see that the mentoring program has the potential to make a big difference in the lives of Salmon’s youth.  I’m proud to be a part of this cause.”

   Adult mentors are needed for elementary and middle school aged children. Mentoring is a great way to give back to the community- -and make a difference in the life of a child.  Big Brothers Big Sisters of America recently released its outcomes report which showed groundbreaking improvements for youth during the first year with a mentor.  The three targeted outcome areas were educational success, avoidance of risky behaviors and socio-emotional competency.

   Do you want to make a difference? Supportive Outreach Solution Mentoring Program is offering a free Mentor Training Thursday, February 16, from 11:30 to 1:30 at the Brooklyn Courthouse Annex-Trainer, Judy DeRouche of Big Brother/Big Sisters of Idaho Falls, will provide part of our training via video conferencing.  For more information or to reserve a spot, please call Stephanie 859-3998 or Sharon 756-4944.
