Salmon's High School Age - Midget Hockey Team hosting their Home Tournament February 10-12th.
SALMON HOCKEY ASSOCIATION: IS AN AMAZING GROUP OF VOLUNTEERS (MANY ARTICLES IN NEWSPAPERS & MAGAZINES HAVE BEEN PRINTED TELLING THEIR STORY)
This group knows how to get things done with hard work and determination and some amazing grant writers! The skating age groups that represent Salmon Hockey Association are: Mites ages 5 to 8; Squirts ages 9 & 10; PeeWee's ages 11 & 12; Bantam ages 13 & 14 and Midgets ages 15-18, also know as High School. The Midget Age group has been fading out in Idaho and neighboring states and replaced with High School Division Hockey. High School Division Hockey will have ONLY players attending the High School for the team's name. Keep in mind, these High Schools DO NOT support, fund or even provide ice for their players, the whole burden lies on the individual players. The team will wear jersey's with their High School name and colors & sometimes even mascot, but mostly for demographic purposes, not to show support of the school itself. In these High School teams, sometimes they are required to sign waivers of liability or provide a certain parent/chaperone ratio, to remove liability from the school when & if the team travels. Our Salmon team does not have that burden since they are supported by Salmon Hockey Association.
Salmon's High School Age Hockey team is also their Midget Hockey team, Salmon only has one High School and barely enough players for one hockey team, let alone a Midget & High School team. So just to clarify; In Salmon when an age group is mentioned, it does NOT necessarily mean the team is sponsored, or supported by the school that houses that age group another example would be High School Rodeo Team or the Elementary soccer teams. Our High School aged Hockey Players are very proud to be Associated AND supported by The Salmon Hockey Association of Salmon, Idaho AND ESPECIALLY BY THEIR PARENTS WHO SPEND LOTS OF MONEY & TIME OVER 12 YEARS SUPPORTING THEM AS MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE!
That leads right into the Announcement of Salmon's High School Age - Midget Hockey Team hosting their Home Tournament February 10-12th. The first games will begin around 6PM on Friday, February 10th. We will have a total of 5 teams in the tournament. Visitors will be coming from Sun Valley, Idaho Falls, Spokane, WA and Boise. We will have a skills competition and Barbeque around the noon hour on Saturday, where all the teams will have the opportunity to participate in showing their strongest skills for a fun time. We will be posting the game schedule next week on Lemhi Web, as well as in the newspaper and on flyers around town. We hope the public will come up and support the Salmon Midget-High School team. Senior night will be on Saturday night the game time will be forthcoming.
