Jean Marchand

Claire Jean Marchand, 89 years of age, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 9. 2012 at her home in Salmon, Idaho.
Jean was born September 14, 1922, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Albin and Claire Martinson. She grew up in Aurora, Wisconsin. She received her B.S. degree from Oshkosh State Teachers College and later a second B.S. degree from the University of Minnesota. She taught fifth grade from many years in the Mounds View school system in the northern surburbs of St. Paul, Minnesota.
She and her husband, Jack, owned the Broken Arrow Lodge in Gibbonsville, Idaho for several years before retiring to Salmon, Idaho.
Jean’s main passion in life was reading. In her retirement, she enjoyed doing book reviews for audiences of the radio station in Salmon. Jean was very proud of her Swedish and English heritage.
She is survived by her brother Eugene Stuart Martinson; and sons: James Stuart Marchand of Columbia, Missouri and John Gerald Marchand of Salmon, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Nora Mae Wallace; brother Albin Herbert Martinson; and husband John Everette Marchand.
Private Family services will be held. Memorials may be made to: Salmon Public Library, Hospice of Salmon Valley, Public Radio or Public T.V. Arrangements by Jones & Casey Funeral Home of Salmon, Idaho.
