Elizabeth Hutchison

 Elizabeth Hutchison 87 years of age, passed away at her residence in Elk Bend, Idaho.  Graveside services were held at the Salmon Cemetery, Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 12:00 p.m.   Arrangements were under direction of Jones & Casey Funeral Home of Salmon, Idaho.

Sarah Elizabeth Hutchison was born on the Poison Creek Ranch on September 6, 1924 to David and Nira (Pratt) Edson, and passed away on the ranch Thursday, February 2, 2012.  She grew up on the family homestead ranch on Poison Creek.  She boarded in Challis, Idaho in her high school years and often rode home Fridays in a horse-drawn wagon driven by her neighbor, who raised a truck garden and made regular produce deliveries to Challis.  She graduated in 1941.

Elizabeth married Elmer John Hutchison on September 14, 1957 in St. Anthony, Idaho.  They made their home on the present ranch.  Her husband passed away in 1988, and she remained on the ranch after his death. 

She was a unique woman, loved by many.  Her wish was to run the ranch until her death and thankfully she did.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Hutchison, sister Margaret Moodie, and parents: David Edson and Nira (Pratt) Edson.

She is survived by nephews:  David (Helen) Moodie of Salmon, Idaho, their children:  Robert and Becky and granddaughter Amanda Vaughn Moodie of Meeks, Idaho and his daughter Maureen, Bill Moodie of Bakersfield, California and his children Kelly and William.  She is also survived by her dear childhood friend Frances Brandle of Warroad, Minnesota,  and dear friends Gary and Barbara Mayberry of Eureka, California; Bob and Melba Baker, Charlie Cook, Steve Lish, Harold Gilpin and Jan Phillips all of Salmon, Idaho.
