Annual Cattlewomen Meeting

Cattlewomen meet to kick off the new year!

On Jan 12th the "cowbells" met at the 28 club with 33 in record attendance. Diana Weiss started the new year presiding over the meeting as the President. Also new to the board are: Laura Edwards president elect, Cathy Hatch VP, Fran McVay secretary, Eleen Wiley treasurer, Amanda Daniels historian and Parliamentarian will be Mary Cerise.

This is always the time of year that the famous quilt gets started and the blocks were handed out and Katie Slavin showed the outstanding center design and colors chosen for this year. Quilting will be a focal issue again our the number of ladies doing hand work is less and less every yr. If this trend continues we will be forced to switch to machine quilting. The quilt will soon be open for work sessions at the Trails End motel in a designated room, adjacent to the new fabric store. All quilters interested, may participate.

Shannon Williams gave a most interesting power point slide show with glimpses of what all went on last year during AG WEEK. It showed how all the school children were involved, as well as our drive through breakfasts and radio trivia contests.  We all want to take advantage of the breakfast this year.

On the state level, Robin Lufkin and Kelly Ellsworth will be representing our Lemhi Co group. We had a guest from Challis that had been one of the state representatives the last 4 yrs, Lyndella Bachman, and she made us all aware that we are in the top 3 most active groups in the state. We were surprised to learn that detail but will be proud to join the men's organization to aware more and more scholarships. Ann Loucks was the lucky winner of the ICA saddle which brought in $6500 for scholarships.

We applauded again, our Cattlewoman of the YEAR, Shirley Decora and recanted how delighted Lynn Bowerman was to win the quilt.
