Lemhi County 4-H Scholarships Available

Lemhi County 4-H offers the Basket Auction Scholarship and the Almira Capps 4-H Scholarship in 2012. Both of these scholarship applications are open to high school 4-H seniors in Lemhi County. The Basket Auction Scholarship is also available to former Lemhi County 4-H members currently in college.

Voters To Decide On Salmon School Bond For Sixth Time

Read Karole Honas's article on the upcoming school bond election in Salmon.  Karole is a reporter for Local News 8 and was recently in Salmon to report on the election.

Lemhi Education Project students awarded scholarships

Several students were awarded scholarships recently as the partnership between North Idaho College and the Lemhi Education Project enters its second semester.  The partnership is designed to support higher education classes in Salmon and provides for on-site videoconferencing and online classes.

Public invited to tour aging schools

On Wednesday, February 8 and Wednesday, 15 from 4:30-6:30 tours of the Salmon Middle and Elementary Schools are available to the public. Lisa Corn, chairperson of the Salmon School Bond Citizens Committee, said previous tours have helped interested citizens see that many of the items that are failing in the 75-year-old Middle School and the 50-year-old Pioneer Elementary School are beyond repair or patching.

Several companies would like to commercialize the fish feed additive the University of Idaho's Aquaculture Research Institute developed to protect trout in the early stages of their life from cold water disease.

Several interested citizens attended a meeting on January 30th at the Sac Center and expressed their concern about educational opportunities and work force develoment in the county. They feel that an educated work force and educational opportunities in the community will provide for manufacturing opportunities with a educated work force.

Research has found that when families take charge of their diets and food budgets they frequently begin taking control over other areas of their lives.
